8/29/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor completed the final hot mix asphalt conform areas. The next two nights will be dedicated to completing the permanent striping on the Pioneer Bridge and related connectors and on/off ramps.

8/28/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor completed the final approach slab. The contractor will continue to work on the final hot mix asphalt conforms and permanent striping tonight.

8/27/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued work on the final approach slabs, hot mix asphalt conforms, joint seals and permanent striping.

8/26/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued work on the final approach slabs, hot mix asphalt conforms, and permanent striping.

8/25/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued work on the final approach slabs, hot mix asphalt conforms, and permanent striping.

8/22/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 40 cubic yards of polyester concrete and completed all remaining paving in the westbound direction of Highway 50.

8/21/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 61 cubic yards of polyester concrete. This completed all remaining paving on eastbound Highway 50.

8/20/17: Over the 58-hour closure weekend, Caltrans’ contractor placed 991 cubic yards of polyester concrete along eastbound and westbound Highway 50. Polyester placement will continue tonight in the westbound direction.

8/19/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 198 cubic yards of polyester concrete and finished eastbound lane number 1 on Highway 50.

8/18/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 400 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the mainline of eastbound and westbound Highway 50.

8/17/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 55 cubic yards of polyester concrete along eastbound Highway 50 shoulders and gore areas.

8/16/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 156 cubic yards of polyester concrete along lane number 2 on eastbound Highway 50.

8/15/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 165 cubic yards of polyester concrete along lane number 2 on eastbound Highway 50.

8/14/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 40 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the eastbound Highway 50 right shoulder and gore areas near South River Road and Jefferson Boulevard on-ramps.

8/13/17: Over the weekend Caltrans’ contractor successfully placed 903 cubic yards of polyester concrete along mainline and related on/off-ramps and connectors on westbound and eastbound Highway 50. Polyester concrete placement will continue this week along mainline westbound and eastbound Highway 50 with minor shoulder work along on/off-ramps and connectors.

8/12/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed polyester concrete along the northbound I-5 connector to westbound Highway 50, the southbound I-5 to eastbound Highway 50 connector, and the eastbound Highway 50 mainline right shoulders and gores.

Polyester placement will continue tonight along the eastbound and westbound Highway 50 shoulders and gore areas.

8/12/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued to place polyester concrete along the northbound I-5 to the westbound Highway 50 mainline lane number 3 and the southbound I-5 to the eastbound Highway 50 connector. Polyester concrete was also placed along the shoulder and gore of eastbound Highway 50 to the I-5 connectors.

8/11/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 100 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the 5th Street on-ramp towards westbound Highway 50 and northbound/southbound I-5. This weekend, polyester concrete will be placed along westbound and eastbound connectors and on/off ramps on Highway 50.

8/9/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 100 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the 5th Street on-ramp towards westbound Highway 50 and southbound I-5.

8/8/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 128 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the 5th Street on-ramp towards westbound Highway 50 and southbound I-5.

8/7:17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 80 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the 5th Street on-ramp towards westbound Highway 50 and southbound I-5.

8/6/17: Over the weekend, Caltrans’ contractor placed a total of 693 cubic yards of polyester concrete. Polyester concrete placement and multi-layer surface material removal will continue this week along the eastbound and westbound Highway 50 and related connector ramps.

8/5/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued to place polyester concrete along the southbound I-5 connector to the westbound 50 as well as along the westbound Highway 50 connector going to southbound I-5 and the 5th Street to southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Removal of multi-layer surface material and deck preparation will continue on eastbound Highway 50 lanes 1 and 2 as well as along the westbound mainline and the 5th Street to I-5 south on-ramp.

8/4/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed polyester concrete along westbound Highway 50 including along mainline lane 4, westbound Highway 50 to the northbound/southbound I-5 connector and the 5th Street to the southbound I-5 on-ramp.

Removal of multi-layer surface material and deck preparation will continue on eastbound Highway 50 lanes 1 and 2 as well as on westbound mainline and the 5th Street to I-5 south on-ramp.

8/3/17:  Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued to remove multi-layer surface material and prepare the westbound Highway 50 slow lanes and associated ramps and connectors for the polyester concrete overlay process to take place during the upcoming 55-hour weekend closures.

No paving occurred last night as the focus continued to be on preparing the westbound deck for closures this weekend.

8/2/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor removed multi-layer surface material and prepared the westbound Highway 50 slow lanes and associated ramps and connectors for the polyester concrete overlay process to take place during the upcoming 55-hour weekend closures.

No paving occurred last night as the focus was on preparing the westbound deck for closures.

8/1/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor placed 84 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the eastbound right-hand shoulder and gore area near the Jefferson eastbound on-ramp. They also paved 1,314 linear feet of polyester on eastbound Highway 50 in lane three.

Polyester concrete overlay will continue tonight on eastbound Highway 50 and removal of multi-layer surface material will continue on westbound Highway 50.

7/31/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor successfully placed 64 cubic yards of polyester concrete along the eastbound right shoulder and sections near the eastbound to northbound/southbound I-5 off-ramp. Polyester concrete placement operations will continue tonight in the eastbound direction and multi-layer surface material removal will continue in the westbound direction.

7/30/17: Caltrans’ contractor successfully placed 622 cubic yards of polyester concrete and continued removing multi-layer surface material along westbound Highway 50 over the 55-hour weekend closure. This week Caltrans’ contractor will continue to remove multi-layer surface material along westbound Highway 50 and continue to place polyester concrete along eastbound Highway 50 and related connectors and ramps.

7/29/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor continued to place polyester concrete along eastbound Highway 50 and the eastbound Jefferson on-ramp.  Multi-layer surface grinding and hand removal operations continued on westbound Highway 50 and related connectors.

Polyester concrete placement will resume again tonight, but the 55-hour weekend closures will remain in effect during the day for multi-layer surface removal operations. Closures will be picked up by 5 a.m. Monday for the morning commute.

7/28/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor successfully began placing polyester concrete along eastbound Highway 50 and the eastbound Jefferson on-ramp.  Multi-layer surface grinding and hand removal operations continued on westbound Highway 50 and related connectors.

Polyester concrete placement will resume tonight, but the 55-hour weekend closures will remain in effect during the day for multi-layer surface removal operations.

7/27/17: Caltrans’ contractor continues to remove minor multi-layer surface areas and is performing deck preparations for the application of polyester concrete overlay. Application of the polyester concrete overlay will begin tonight, Friday, July 28th, and will continue throughout the 55-hour weekend closures.

7/26/17: Removal of multi-layer surface material continued overnight in sections, while beginning deck preparations for applying the polyester concrete overlay. Contractors are tentatively scheduled to begin the polyester concrete overlay process on Friday night, July 28th, and will continue the process throughout the 55-hour weekend closures.

7/25/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor removed 87,093 square feet of multi-layer surface material. Grinding operations will continue tonight along eastbound and westbound highway 50.

Myers & Sons is scheduled to begin deck preparation on Thursday night and will begin their first shift of Polyester concrete overlay on Friday, July 28th. Polyester overlay operations will continue throughout the 55-hour lane closure weekend.

7/24/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor, Myers & Sons, successfully removed 52,476 square feet of multi-layer surface material. Removal operations will continue along Highway 50 eastbound and westbound as well as along relative connectors and ramps.

7/23/17: Over the 55-hour lane closure this weekend, 258,832 square feet of multilayer surface material was removed from the Pioneer Bridge.

Grinding operations and removal will continue tonight along eastbound and westbound U.S. Highway 50 and related ramps and connectors near the project.

7/22/17: The Caltrans grinding operation to remove multilayered surface material from Pioneer Bridge continues on schedule with crews working through 5 a.m. Monday morning, 7/24. One or two lanes of Hwy 50 will remain open in each direction.
Ramp and connector closures will continue:

•  The Jefferson and S. River Road on- and off-ramps are closed throughout the weekend.
•  5th Street and 15th Street onramps only are also closed throughout the weekend.
•  Eastbound and westbound connectors from U.S. Hwy 50 to northbound and southbound Interstate 5 will be closed at night.

7/21/17: Grinding work to remove multilayer surface material from Pioneer Bridge continues with the progress made on schedule. Grinding work with lane closures will continue through 5 a.m. Monday morning, 7/24.
One or two traffic lanes on Hwy. 50 at Pioneer Bridge will remain open in both directions throughout the weekend.
Weekend ramp and connector closures:

•  The Jefferson and S. River Road on- and off-ramps are closed throughout the weekend.
•  5th Street and 15th Street on-ramps only are also closed throughout the weekend.
•  The eastbound and westbound connectors from U.S. Hwy 50 to northbound and southbound Interstate 5 will be closed at night.

7/20/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor, Myers & Sons, successfully removed 33,900 SF of multi-layer surface material from eastbound/westbound Highway 50.

7/19/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor successfully removed 94,576 square feet of multi-layer surface material from the Pioneer Bridge, which brings the total to 727,713 square feet removed.

7/18/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor successfully removed 128,214 square feet of multi-layer surface material from the Pioneer Bridge, which puts the total removal at 633,137 square feet to date.

7/17/17: Last night Caltrans’ contractor successfully removed 67,996 square feet of multi-layer surface material from the Pioneer Bridge, which puts the total removal at 504,923 square feet to date.

7/16/17: Last night, contractors successfully removed 80,717 SF of multilayer surface on EB and WB slow lanes, including areas along the on/off ramps of Jefferson Blvd, South River Road and 5th Street.

7/15/17: To date, the construction contractor, Myers & Sons,  has removed 356,210 square feet of multilayered surface material from the Pioneer Bridge as part of the preparation for resurfacing.

Progress last night included removing 72,000 SF of surface material from the eastbound (EB) and westbound (WB) lanes on U.S. Highway 50. Removal operations will continue tonight along EB and WB Highway 50 slow lanes, as well as Jefferson Blvd, South River Road, and 5th Street on/off ramps.
